There is a venue change for the June 15 meeting. We will be located in the Music Room on the first level of the building on the other side of the chapel. This is due to the Rummage Sale setup in the Friendship Hall. We will return to the Friendship Hall on June 22.
Peripatetic Voyager Sheryl Roush gave an interactive session on presenting awards, during which President Karen W presented Max C with his club name badge. Sheryl also gifted our club with a new podium banner and a sidewalk sign sign. Thank you Sheryl! Sheryl will be the keynote speaker for our next Special Community Outreach meeting on August 10. Please save the date, and spread the word. This is sure to be an inspiring event!

It was Beatlemania at Voyagers Toastmasters today with Toastmaster Chandler Martin leading a lively discussion of all things Beatles! And with some time for extra Table Topics everyone participated in Beatle memories and Beatle thoughts. We found out we have a Bronze and Silver medal winner of basketball fame (Jessica Mercado) and heard an innovative plan for a sustainable economy for the Japanese Island of Yokuska (Joji Peters). Next week’s meeting will be led by Justin Salbato and the theme is ???…Mother’s Day, of course. Come and bring your mother!
Today’s award winners were:
Best Topics: a tie – Beth Bateman and John Wissenberg
Toastmaster Beth Bateman provide an engrossing background and history of Earth Day as well as how we can be involved in continuing to legacy and good work that Earth Day has spawned. Three speeches covered a range of speaking formats: Chandler Martin delivered a meeting introduction for an upcoming international border conference that she will host, John Shannon gave his Icebreaker and Jerry Marino told a Jewish fairytale that dates back to the 6th century in Afghanistan. New member Joji Peters provided challenging Table Topics and throughout the meeting there was high energy and enthusiastic response to all speakers and evaluators.
Today’s Voyagers meeting was a fascinating look at what can happen in 100 Days, led by Terry Hewins, DTM and former San Diego Toastmaster District 5 Governor. 100 days into the new year and Voyagers has several new members and members achieving new educational goals. As we look toward the end of our Toastmaster year in June, Voyagers is inching closer to achieving all ten goals of the Distinguished Club Plan. Be sure to experience the excitement of a Voyagers Toastmasters meeting Thursday morning, 7 AM at Café Coyote in Old Town.
Today, we added a new member – Jessica Mercado. Welcome aboard!
I’d tell you what a wonderful meeting we had on Thursday, Nov 14, but I don’t have time because I’m heading out of town for a reunion weekend in Boston. I could tell you what a great job our TM Diana Bergman did with the theme of “The Frost is on the Pumpkin”, or what great speeches Kevin Swanson, Felicia Douglis, and Hal Slater gave…or how good the feedback was from evaluators Jane Flaherty, Suzi O’Brien, and Beth Bateman, or that we had six guests, an Area Governor visit, earned a Golden Gavel for our excellent meeting, and that we had three first timers as functionaries…but I don’t have time.
Dates: Dec. 5 30th Anniversary meeting; Dec. 15, in the evening, Holiday Party and Anniversary Celebration.
Welcome new member James (I don’t know his last name because I don’t have your paperwork). Nice to have you a Voyager. If anyone has James’s email please forward this to him until I get him on the club roster.
See you for “Marketing the Voyagers Experience” next week led by Professor Alan Hoffmanner and attended by his MBA class who will prepare a marketing plan for Voyagers as a class project.
